The Apex Habitat Bird Box

The Apex Habitat Bird Box

Our standard bird box offering is a more generic home for smaller birds and is designed to host a wide array of British Birds, including House Sparrows, Starlings, Redstarts and Tits.

The single entrance hole permits the entire internal area to be perfect for nesting and roosting. The aperture size will vary according to the target species. The fronts also have a stainless steel mesh to complement brick slip adhesion and are retained with stainless steel screws.

The Apex SparrowStay Terrace Brick Box

The Apex SparrowStay Terrace Brick Box

The Apex SparrowStay Terrace Brick Box has the same external dimensions as the apex habitat bird box, but differs in the fact that it has two external entrance holes and two separate compartments within the structure. This design makes it ideal for the sociable nature of Sparrows.

The Apex Habitat Swift Box

The Apex Habitat Swift Box

These Standard Apex Swift Boxes have a crescent-shaped hole on one side of the box, allowing swifts access but restricting use by starlings. Inside, a rough floor makes it more favourable for the swifts to move around. The centre of the floor has a sunken nest cup to assist nest building.

The ideal internal depth of a swift box is 140 mm; however, if the cavity width is limited, these boxes can be manufactured with a reduced depth down to a minimum of 100 mm if requested. Please ensure this is stated when making your enquiry.

The Apex StarBox

The Apex StarBox

The Apex StarBox is a carbon copy of the Apex Habitat bird box, albeit with a wider 48mm Entrance Opening to accommodate and encourage the nesting of Starlings.

Starlings play a vital role in the UK’s ecosystem. They naturally help control pests, aerate soil, and recycle organic matter. Their presence is a sign of environmental health. Encouraging them with wildlife-friendly gardens helps restore balance and biodiversity.

The Apex Habitat Bat Box

The Apex Habitat Bat Box

The Apex standard Bat Box in the style of a Bird Brick House, which is supplied with a brick-slip front according to the customer’s needs.

These are best positioned in sunlit clusters at heights between 3 and 6 metres and ideally facing a variety of aspects, as bats will move around buildings as the seasons change.

General Info

Size and capacity

The back of the box protrudes into the cavity by around 25mm or 1″; the swift and starling boxes, being a deeper protrude by around 65mm or 2.5″ – which avoids bridging the cavity. While our core business is bulk manufacturing for fitting in new housing estates and industrial units (to counter the inevitable loss of habitat), Apex Brickcutters can  supply bird and bat boxes for retro-fitting into an existing structure.

Delivery

An efficient manufacturing process allows us to deliver most orders within  7-10 working days.

Expected species uptake

The table below covers the most common species that are likely to be attracted, together with siting guidance.  It is not an exact science and it may be found that species other than the ones which may be targeted take up residence instead. It can also take time for birds and bats to start using the boxes.
